Marcie Travagline Abrams
Marcella Travagline Abrams has been a member of Turning the Tide Board of Directors since 2014. Marcella has a professional background in Social Work and Law. She is a former Independence Law Fellow where she was funded to provide free legal services to Philadelphia low-income, home-bound seniors. She is a native of Philadelphia and has earned degrees from Temple and Villanova University. Marcella is also a Charter Member of Philadelphia’s 3rd Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she serves as Treasurer. She is committed to identifying the needs of the community, and then developing solutions that work.
David Edman has been a member of the Turning the Tide Board of Directors since 2015. He operates his own healthcare consulting business located in the Philadelphia suburbs, working with businesses, government, and individuals on issues related to health finance and obtaining health insurance. He is from Philadelphia, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, and committed to ‘building community’ in West Philadelphia and beyond.
Akeem Franklyn has been a member of Turning the Tide Board of Directors since 2016. Akeem Franklyn is an IT Professional with over 10 years of working experience. Assisting with Turning the Tide helps fuels one of his passion of empowering people who don’t normally have the same opportunities as their counterparts of a higher socioeconomic status. He is originally from Brooklyn, NY and a graduate of Drexel University.
John Cureton, II
John Cureton holds over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, including 15 years as Owner and Principal at Urban Harvest Partnership, LLC (UHP). UHP is a Regional IT Network Infrastructure firm providing Secure, Gigabit WiFi, Smart City / IoT Networks and IP Surveillance solutions. John’s new startup project is as Cofounder of Alluvia Technologies, a learning software company launched in 2017. Additionally, he volunteers in the community with Turning The TIDE training center in the Cobb’s Creek section of Philadelphia and as a Robotics Coach for the Vex IQ Robotics Team at Penn Christian Academy in Norristown, PA.
