Beginning in 2011, Turning the TIDE, became a partner Family Planning Council in a 5-year initiative called IMATTER Philly (initially referred to as the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative of West and Southwest Philadelphia) which is funded by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  The goal of the initiative is to systematically and notably reduce the occurrence of teen pregnancies in the West and Southwest Philadelphia areas.  Turning the TIDE has participated in this effort by facilitating discussion groups for pre-teens and teens, ages 10 to 19 years.  These age-appropriate discussion groups are based on evidenced based curriculums developed to equip adolescents with the knowledge, motivation and skills necessary to act safely and make responsible choices.
